Pigment Dyeing & Garment Wash The latest addition to our production process is Laundering or wet processing - we offer specialized services to fit the needs of the apparel industry. We provide full service garment dyeing facility with on-site testing, a full color lab, product development, and quality control throughout the finishing of each garment. A wide variety of dyes may be used to create unique looks on garments. Pigment dyeing is not really "dyeing" in it's truest form. Pigments are insoluble in water. They exist in the form of finely ground molecules, milled for garment dyeing purposes into a paste. When anionic dispersing agents are added, a slightly negative charge is present, thus the foundation for pigment dyeing is born. When a positively charged cationic pre-treat is added to the fiber a magnetic bond is formed. The process is complete when a cationic binder is added to "lock" the pigment into place. Pigments produce a unique "washed down" or "weathered" look on the garments, while allowing good lightfastness and fair washfastness and crocking. By nature pigments produce a one of a kind garment that changes and ages as it is washed over time.
